Funeral services for Cleo D. Aldredge, 87, of Lufkin will be held Wednesday, September 23, 2009 at 2 p.m. in the Carroway-Claybar Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Horace Fletcher officiating. Graveside services with military honors will follow in the Walker Cemetery.

Mr. Aldredge was born March 30, 1922 in Angelina County, Texas to the late Lurline (Robinson) and Eli Aldredge, and died Sunday, September 20, 2009 in a local nursing home. A former resident of Arlington, Mr. Aldredge had resided in Lufkin for six years. He received a Bachelors degree in Engineering from the University of Omaha. Mr. Aldredge retired as a Lt. Colonel from the U.S. Air Force following 21 years of service to his country, and was a prisoner of war during World War II. Following his retirement from the military, he was an engineer for Lockheed Martin. Mr. Aldredge was a member of the Fielder Road Baptist Church in Arlington.

Survivors include his wife, Elizabeth Aldredge of Lufkin; brother, Curtis "Curt" Aldredge of Lufkin; sisters-in-law, Belle Burgess, Violet Little, Dolline Marshall and husband Jim, and Naomi Knight, all of Lufkin; and a number of nieces, nephews and other relatives. In addition to his parents, Mr. Aldredge was preceded in death by his daughter, Joy Thornton; sister, Lavone Craft; and brother, Corbet Aldredge.
