John was the son of Francis and Margaret (Dulaney) Bowery. His father served in the Revolutionary War.
John enlisted in Knoxville, Tennessee in 1814 and served under Col. Samuel Bayles, Reg't East Tennessee Militia. He served from 6 Nov 1814 to 18 May 1815.
He married Elizabeth Barnhart, daughter of Conrad and Barbara GeFeller.

Details: I walked this cemetery today, 3 times. I could not find a marker for this John Bowery. There are 81 unidentifiable graves, many with no stone or a field stone. I found a few broken or otherwise unreadable stones.
