Tylitha Ann Champlain
October 23, 1941
Tylitha "Ann" Champlain, 16 month-old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. L. R. Champlain, of Niles, Michigan, died Thursday morning, October 15, 1941, in a Muskogee hospital after a short illness. The Champlain family was in Wagoner on a visit at the time of Tylitha's death.
Funeral services were held Saturday afternoon in the Pentecostal Holiness Church with the Rev. Payne in charge. Burial was in Elmwood Cemetery under the direction of the Hersman Funeral Home.
Besides her parents, Tylitha Ann is survived by one brother, Jimmy, her paternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. J. J. Champlain, Wagoner, and her maternal grandfather, John W. Rucks, Sulphur Rock, Arkansas.
Obituary provided by Charlotte Stevens Schneider.
Tylitha was named after her Grandmother Talitha (Nott) Rucks, and went by the name of Annie by her family. She was in a car accident and sustained a head injury behind the left ear. After her check up she was sent home, but two weeks later came down with a high grade fever. The extremely high fever caused her death. The physicians speculate that a bruise inside the skull, swelling and bleeding caused the fever. She died in her mother's arms, only 16 months old. She was buried in a pink dress and a baby doll with matching dress along side of her.
Written by L Hendryx per family interviews, eye witnesses at the funeral and pictures.
