[Note: some researchers have suggested that John Henry Campbell's father, James Campbell, died in Buffalo, Dallas County, Missouri, and some have the date of death after 1840. After reviewing the microfilm listed in the INDEX, BOOK #2 1833 to 1852, LETTERS OF ADMINISTRATION ON ESTATES OF Pulaski County, James Campbell died in Pulaski County, Missouri in 1836. Additional resources were consulted, such as the biographies of his children, Allen Green Campbell and John Henry Campbell. Land records were also consulted, showing where the family lived in the 1830's. Another book: "Annals of Methodism in Missouri" by W. S. Woodard, 1893, E. W. Stephens, Publisher and Binder, Chapter IV, Section 2, pages 121-125.]

Nemaha County Spectator, Wetmore, Kansas, Friday, 22 June 1894, page 4, col. 3:
"John H. Campbell, an aged and respected citizen of Ontario, died yesterday. Information of his death was received at a late hour, and the time for holding the funeral, was not learned."

The Seneca Tribune, June 28, 1894, page 2, col. 4, Bancroft Breezes:
"John Campbell after a lingering illness has passed away from things earthly, and gone to that abode not made with hands, and where sorrow does not enter. The funeral services were held from the Ontario school house."
