Norma L. (Hiatt) Barr, 73, of Winchester, died Friday, May 30, 2003 at Reid Memorial Hospital in Richmond after an extended illness.
Born Feb. 19, 1930 in Ridgeville, she was the daughter of the late Eli and Lyra (Addington) Hiatt. A graduate of Ridgeville High School in 1948, she worked for the Peoples Loan and Trust Bank in Ridgeville in 1949 as a teller. She was a homemaker and worked as a care giver within the community.
Survivors include her husband of 53 years, Ivan D. Barr, to whom she was married on June 19, 1949; two sons, David (wife Nancy) Barr, Anderson, and Larry (wife Amy) Barr, Columbia City; four daughters, Beverly (husband Paul) Pravis, Fishers, Lois (husband Jerry) Skinner, Marion, Sharon (husband Wayne) Christenberry, Warsaw, and Amy (husband Scott) Ryder, Fort Wayne; one brother, Richard (wife Helen) Hiatt, and one sister, Ireda Macy, all of Ridgeville; 14 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; four step-grandchildren, four step great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
Services are 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Nazarene Church in Winchester with Pastor Howard Becker and Rev. John Chambers officiating. Burial will be in the Lawndale Cemetery in Ridgeville. Calling hours are 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. Monday at Thayer Funeral Home in Winchester.
Memorials may be made to the Gideons Bible program with envelopes available at the funeral home.
