Frank William Abraham, 81, of Albany died Friday at his home.
He was born on the family farm in Halsey, the son of William and Mae (Park) Abraham. He went to grade school and high school in Shedd, graduating from Corvallis High School. He attended Oregon State University before entering the Army Air Corps as a pilo cadet on Dec. 18, 1941.
After completing flight training, he flew an A20 fighter bomber in three invasions during World War II. He served in North Africa, Sicily and Italy, completing 50 missions before returning home and farming.
He had lived in the mid-valley area all his life, except for his time in the service.
He married Mariann Layman on Jul 2, 1938. She survives, along with son Steven of Shedd; sister Elaine Poland of Albany; and eight grandchildren.
A son, Douglas, and brother Woodrow and Skeexix died before him.
A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at Fisher Funeral Home.
