Funeral services for Viola Elizabeth Davisson were held Saturday, March 14,1959 at 3 p.m. at the Woodward Methodist Church with the Rev. John Darlington officiating. Two hymns, "Beautiful Isle of Somewhere" and "The Lord's Prayer," were sung by Dean Bice, accompanied by Mrs. Marvin (Mabel) Sturgeon.

Pallbearers were Lynn Davisson, Jerry Davisson, Larry Bork, Byron Peterson, Roger Peterson, and David Bork, grandsons of the deceased. On the flower committee were Rita White, Judy White, Susan Davisson, Sally Davisson, and Barbara Rinker, grandaughters of Mrs. Davisson.

Burial was at the Peoples Cemetery with the Hooker Funeral home of Woodward in charge.

Viola Elizabeth Davisson, daughter of Jacob H. and Florence Burkhart was born January 20, 1875 and died at 6:10 a.m. at the Boone County Hospital, Thursday, March 12, 1959, at the age of 84 years, 1 month, and 20 days, after a lingering illness. She spent almost her entire life in Peoples Township with the exception of several years in Des Moines.

She was united in marriage to Lester Lloyd Davisson, December 6, 1899, and to this union nine children were born, two sons dying in infancy. Mr. and Mrs. Davisson observed their Golden Wedding Anniversary on December 6, 1949.

She was a life-long member of the Methodist Church, taking an active part as organist and Sunday School teacher. Mrs. Davisson had a great talent for painting and many of her relatives and friends were recipients of her art work.

Survivors include five daughters, Mrs. J. Henry Rinker (Ruth), Waterloo, Mrs. Henry Lottman (Rachel), Rockwell City, Mrs. Paul Bork (Helen), Ames, Mrs. Don White (Lola), Nevada, and Mrs. Reuben Peterson (Mabel), of Madrid, two sons, Harold and Leland Davisson of the Woodward vicinity; 22 grandchildren, and 15 great grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Lottie Wernli of Perry and Mrs. Mildred Bice of Woodward; and a brother, J.H. Burkhart of Woodward.

Mrs. Davisson was preceeded in death by her husband; four sisters, three brothers; a granddaughter; and her parents.
