Luella fell down a flight of stairs when she was 16, breaking bones in her upper back. She was stooped after that, and was only about 4'9" tall. She was a lovely, pleasant, kind woman with very light blue eyes. Her husband died when he was 44, so Luella went to live with her daughter Jessie Schmidt and her husband Alexander, and helped them raise their three sons.
