Rayford Troy Allen was born October 24, 1931 in Stephens County to parents Thomas Henry Allen and Eunice Ann Roberson Allen. Troy grew up in Stephens County and graduated from Breckenridge High School in 1950. He attended and graduated from Cisco Junior College and served in the United States Army from 1952 to 1954 in the Panama Canal. After being honorably discharged, Troy returned to Stephens County and married Colene Compton Pennington on July 11, 1974. He worked for the United States Postal Service as a letter carrier for 28 years before retiring. Troy was also a rancher for many years and was a member of the Eolian Community Church, the Breckenridge Masonic Lodge 492, and the Scottish Rite organization. He served on the Stephens County Rural Water Board, took care of the Battle Creek Cemetery, enjoyed helping his friends and neighbors, as well as reading, working, and sports. Troy sold his family land that had been in his family for generations to allow the building of the Walker Sayle Unit. He debated over that decision, but decided it would provide jobs for people in Stephens County.
Troy was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, and one sister.
Troy is survived by his wife, Colene Allen of Breckenridge; one daughter, Coda Riley of Possum Kingdom; one son, Tracy Pennington of Morton Valley; five grandchildren, Tony Elizalda, Jeter Riley, Joni Riley Carmen, Jessica Pennington Kubiak & husband Josh, and J.R. Pennington; three great-grandchildren, Tessa, Allison & Riley.
