Obituary: BURNS, WILLIAM J. [Fall River Herald News, 4 June 1943] William J. Burns, 31 Huard Street, died unexpectedly this morning at his home with death attributed by Medical Examiner Thomas E. Boylan to a heart attack. He leaves his wife, Mrs. Louisa (Gerrard [sic; Gerard]), two sons, Frederick J. and John F. Burns, three daughters, Mrs. Herbert West and Miss Helen T. Burns, this city, and Miss Rose Burns, New York City; two grandchildren, and a sister, Mrs. Catherine Gannon, this city. He was born on Long Island, N. Y., and lived here 60 years ago. He was a member of St. William's Parish 20 years. Ten years he ago retired. The funeral will be held from C. P. Harrington Funeral Home on Monday morning, with a high mass of requiem in St. William's Church at 9.
Funeral notice: [Fall River Herald News, 7 June 1943] The funeral of William J. Burns of 31 Huard Street was held this morning from C. P. Harrington Funeral Home with a high mass of requiem at St. William's Church at 9. Rev. Francis J. Maloney, S. T. L., was celebrated. In the sanctuary were Rev. William H. Harrington, Rev. Raymond T. Considine and sisters from St. Vincent's Home. Bearers were Alfred Brodeur, Christopher Gaffney, Thomas Burns, Thomas Grandfield, Herbert West, Jr. and Samuel Montgomery Interment was in St. Patrick's Cemetery where Father Harrington and Rev. John J. Donahue read the committal.
