FAIRMONT Elizabeth Jane "Libby" Hyatt Allawatt passed away peacefully at The Arbors while listening to a prayer given by her sister Velma Miller via the phone in Mesa, Ariz., on Tuesday (Jan. 3, 2012). Libby, as she was called by all who loved her, was born Aug. 28, 1926 in Maidsville, the daughter of Jefferson E. and Iva M. Hyatt. Libby's parents went on to live in Douglas, Ariz., along with many of Libby's siblings, but Libby spent her life in Fairmont with her husband of 62 years, Samuel A. Allawatt.
Libby worked as a receptionist at the Fairmont Clinic for many years. Libby was a great family favorite of all her nieces, nephews and family. She traveled to visit her family every year in Arizona, and was greeted by family and a house decorated in "Libbys" cans of vegetables. She would laugh and laugh. She was ALWAYS laughing, joking and bringing happiness and joy to all who knew her. Sometimes she would laugh until tears were streaming down all our faces. She will be so dearly missed. We will always remember her great pots of spaghetti, made from her own secret recipe. Family would come from far and wide to enjoy it. We really rejoice that we had Libby for so long. Her righteousness and faith in the Lord will sustain us, even as we mourn her passing. She will be reunited with her family and beloved husband Sammy as they rejoice in God's love. Libby was preceded in death by her husband, Samuel A. Allawatt; her beloved parents; her brothers and their wives, Jack and Wanda Vanata Hyatt, J.J. and Mary Grimes Hyatt, and Myron A. Hyatt; her sisters, Pauline Hyatt, Loraine Trickett and husband Darrell, Alma Hyatt Murray and Erma Marie Hyatt; and nieces, Dianna K. Hyatt and Ann Marie Watkins. She is survived by her sister, Velma J. Miller of Mesa, Ariz.; nieces and nephews, O'Neil and Mary Watkins of Douglas, Ariz., Carol Trickett Jennings of Tempe, Ariz., Beverly (Trickett) and Freddy Gonzalez of Sierra Vista, Ariz., Kellye (Trickett) and Raul Serrano and their son Max of Tempe, Ariz., Linda Trickett and JR Sanchez and their children Olivia and Isaac of Gilbert, Ariz., Brenda (Murray) and Richard Schroeder of Phoenix, Debbie (Murray) and Chris Chealander of Fernly, Nev., Deanna Hyatt and Paul Villareal of Douglas, Ariz., David Hyatt of Douglas, Ariz., Daniel Hyatt of Tucson, Douglas Hyatt of Sierra Vista, Ariz., and Darlene Hyatt of Douglas, Ariz; brother-in-law, Thomas Murray of Casa Grande, Ariz.; 16 great-nieces and -nephews; and 19 great-great-nieces and -nephews. Whenever we laugh, we will remember Libby. Family and friends may call at Domico Funeral Home, 414 Gaston Ave., Fairmont, from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. Friday. The funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Friday in the funeral home. Entombment will follow at Beverly Hills Memorial Gardens in Westover. Times West Virginia 01/05/2012
