Jerlean Adams, 69, of Rock Island, passed away, Saturday, June 11, 2011, at her home, surrounded by her family after a courageous fight with cancer.
A Celebration of Life service will be held 6 p.m. Wednesday, June 15, at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home, 3030 7th Ave., Rock Island, where visitation with the family will be from 5 to 6 p.m. Memorials may be made to the family to be designated later.
Jerlean was born April 8, 1942, in Missouri. She was the daughter of Enoch and Alice Hall. On December 3, 1960, she was joined in marriage to Trond Adams celebrating 50 years of marital bliss.
In years past, she worked as a teacher's aide in the Head Start program and also established an in-home child day care center. She had a gift with nurturing and teaching children, her own as well as others and was in high demand because of her abilities to connect with children.
As years passed she decided to become a homemaker and devote her time to raising her family and putting them always first.
She enjoyed playing games, going on the casino, fishing, shopping, and just spending time with her family. It could be just a simple game of cards or coordinating a gathering.
Jerlean is survived by her loving and caring husband, Trond; her son, Dr. Coethe Adams; her daughter, Tronda Adams; grandchildren, Coethe Adams II and Eliana Adams; brother, Mayfield Hall; sister, Alice Rhoden; special nieces, Georgia Kerr and Opal Quella Harrington; life-long friend, Betty Miller; and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers, Joseph, Enoch, and Robert Hall, and sisters, Josephine Thornton, Ruth Lane, Vinnie Wells and Roberta Hall.
Jerlean's family wishes to thank the staff at Trinity Hospice and Trinity Home Care for their loving care and support of our loved one.
Her honest loving and caring nature will be truly missed. We love you.

To the Family of Jerlean Adams, We were so sorry to hear that you lost your beloved, Jerlean. We pray that although this may be a very difficult time for you all now, God has a silver lining at the end of the rainbow both for Jerlean and for all of you. May Jesus forever watch over you and keep you all from every hurt, harm and danger. We ask God for a special prayer for our cousins Cordelia Adams Davis and Trond Davis, and their families-that they may not mourn their loved one long. God Bless you! Love, J.
