SOLOMON – Military graveside services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, June 16, 2012, in the Prairie Mound cemetery at Solomon, for Dwight Ray Homman.
Dwight passed away on Oct. 29, 2011, after a fall in his Tulsa, Okla. home due to complications of diabetes. Dwight was 50 years old.
Dwight served in the United States Navy as a sonar tech on the submarine, USS Greenling.
He is survived by his wife, Hazel Homman and step daughter, Yolanda Gould of Warsaw, Ky., his father, Earl Homman of Topeka, Kan., and his mother, Dinah Cowen, of Jonesboro, La. Dwight leaves his two brothers, John David Homman and wife Vickie of Conroe, Texas, and Todd Michael Homman of Jonesboro, La. Dwight had many uncles and aunts, Paul and Claudia Homman, Thomas and Marcia Cowen, Rebecca Cowen Cornelius, and Robert Rowe. Dwight will be missed by his many cousins, nieces, and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Raymond Lawrence and Veva Butcher-Homman, his maternal grandparents Ada Lorraine Cannon-Mc- Laughlin and Thomas Powell Cowen and his aunt, Audrey Homman-Rowe.
Dwight will be the sixth generation Homman buried in Prairie Mound. Dwight descends from Andrew Howman/Homman, Andrew Jackson Fugatt, and Emanuel Z. Butcher – all early settlers of Solomon, Kansas.
