Birth: Sep. 4, 1914
Genoa
Liguria, Italy
Death: Feb. 24, 1991
Milan
Lombardia, Italy

Her real name was Giuseppina Angela Volonghi. A promising swimmer, she left it in 1933 against her parents and six brothers' will because she loved acting and was immediately engaged by Gilberto Govi, at the age of 15. She acted for 6 years with them, acting only in her local dialect but in the end she decided that it was time to change and moved to Rome. At the end of the fourties she had already worked with the important partners of that period, such as Ernesto Calindri, and acted in plays by George Bernard Shaw and Oscar Wilde. In the fifties she worked with Lauretta Masiero, Alberto Lionello and so on. She was very active on the radio, in the theater and when the Italian televison was born she appeared in a lot of "Caroselli" and in a lot of Television shows, as well as movies. The most important one was in 1986, "Madre Coraggio", by Brecht. With her particular voice she recorded lots of fairy tales and was very active until she unfortunately had a heart attack that forced her to leave the stage.
