Joyce L. Greer, 76, of Marietta, Ga., formerly of Pemiscot County, Mo., died 2 am Sunday, Dec. 14, 2008, at Marietta.
Born Nov. 20, 1932, in the Dry Bayou Community, daughter of the late Harvey and Florence Whitaker, she was retired from Lockheed and attended St. Joseph's Nursing School in Memphis, Tenn.
She married Richard Greer, who preceded her in death on Oct. 20, 2008. She was also preceded in death by one brother, Jerry Whitaker and two sisters, Shirley Whitaker and Ruth Barrington.
Survivors include three sons, Michael Greer and wife, Donna, of Atlanta, Ga., Richard L. Greer Jr., of Jacksonville, Fla., and Darryl P. Greer and wife, Lana, of Seattle, Wash.; one daughter, Melynda Swancey, of Ellenwood, Ga.; three brothers, Russell Whitaker and wife, Glenda, of McKinney, Texas, Dennis Whitaker and wife, Betty, of Pace, Fla., and Byran Whitaker and wife, Robin, of Arlington, Texas; two sisters, Betty Miller, of New Branufels, Texas and Lucy Barrington and husband, Jerry, of Lubbock, Texas; three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 20, at the John W. German Funeral Home Chapel in Hayti with Bro. Doug Wahls officiating.
Burial was in the Dry Bayou Cemetery in the Concord Community.
Pallbearers were Michael, Richard and Darryl Greer, Bryan and Russell Whitaker and Billy Swancey.
