Funeral service was held Thursday at 2:00 p.m. in the Dry Bayou Baptist Church for John H. Henderson, Rev. B.J. Baldwin of Marston officiated.
Mr. Henderson was born November 25, 1893 in Pemiscot County and died March 11, 1980 in the River Oaks Nursing Home in Steele at the age of 86. He was a retired farmer from the Dry Bayou community and a member of the Dry Bayou Baptist Church.
He was united in marriage to Bessie Hudgens November 25, 1915 at Hayti, and to this union were born six children. Two sons preceded him in death, one in infancy and Bill Henderson in November 1979.
Mr. Henderson leaves his wife, Mrs. Bessie Henderson, of Steele; one son, Joe Henderson of Caruthersville; three daughters: Mrs. Mary Wall of Portageville; Mrs. Lorell Renshaw of New Orleans, La.; and Miss Phyllis Henderson of Steele; two brothers: Mr. G.R. Henderson of Hayti, and Mr. Herbert Henderson of Lewisville, Ark.; three sisters: Mrs. Dollie Thomas of Memphis; Mrs. Irene Ellis of Memphis; and Mrs. Susye Terrell of Paducah, Ky.
Pallbearers were his grandsons.
Burial was in the Dry Bayou Cemetery with the John W. German Funeral Home of Hayti in charge of arrangements.
