Thomas Jefferson's grandparents were Andrew Denning (b.in Ireland in the 1700's and died in Tenn. in 1828) and Miss Polly Groves) The name "Groves" would follow down the family line as far as 2014 and beyond.
Thomas Jefferson grew up and married Mary Frances Bragg on Dec. 21, 1869 in Tenn.. They lived 2 miles outside of Gleason, Tenn. on a 5 acre track of land her father, William Bragg, had given them. They raised their children there until they were grown, and when Thomas was aging and in bad health, they moved into Gleason, Tenn. in 1903. Thomas died the following year on Nov. 2, 1904 from a stoke. Thomas was buried in the Hopewell Cemetery, Weakley Co. Tenn. After a long life, Mary Frances died on Feb 3, 1940 and was buried beside Thomas.
