Her husband J.C. Akers preceded her in death.
She is survived by her son James C. Akers and wife Sharon of Fork Union, Virginia, granddaughters Melynda Ghumeim and Marcia Akers of Charlotte, North Carolina and two great-granddaughters, Killian Ghuneim and Jessica Ferguson.
