Funeral services for Earnest N. Barton, well known resident of Gordon County, were held Monday at Farmville Methodist Church at 3 p.m. with the Rev. Luther Porter officiating. Music was by the Farmville Trio. Mr. Barton, a farmer, died suddenly at his home in the Sonoraville Community on Saturday afternoon at 3:30 o'clock. He was a Methodist and a veteran of World War I. Survivors include his wife, the former Lillie Strickland; two sons, Troy Barton of Macon and Lawrence Barton of Atlanta; six grandchildren, Neal, Steve, Debra, John Robert, John Troy and James Earnest Barton; two brothers, J. Earl Barton and O. R. Barton, both of Gordon County; several nieces and nephews. Pallbearers serving were Junior West, J. W. Pendley, Garland Padgett, Aaron McEntyre, Hoyt Darnell and E. T. Shepherd.
