My Maternal Grandfather
Grandpa Thomas passed away, when I was six years old. I don't have many memories of him. I do remember that he was quite humorous, and fun-loving with the grandchildren. One evening, my brother Bob was playing baseball with his neighborhood friends. Grandpa decided to join them. He hit the ball and started running towards first base. His team players hollered "GO home, go home!" Grandpa hollered back, "I just came from there!" I always liked this story as well, told by my mother. One day she came home from school, with a question from the teacher. Mom was to find out, where her ancestors came from, her nationality. Grandpa's response was, "You tell your teacher that you are a "Blue-bellied Yank! That you got your father's features, and your mother's fixtures."
