Bertha came from a broken home and had a hard life till she married Mont. They lived in Mass., where their only child, Elsie, was born. Mont moved the family to California about 1918. Bertha's mother remarried, and had 2 more girls. But she was never home, leaving Bertha to raise them. They were privileged and spoiled and took advantage of Bertha. Her home was their party house for Hollywoods famous actors. She hated it as she was strict and proper. Bertha was a great cook and loved her cats.
