Son of Edward G. and Angelette (Brewer) Edwards.
Grandson of Rev Edward Edwards (# 46998187) and Nancy Farrer.

Flat River, St. Francois Co. MO
Fri. June 26, 1936

News of the sudden death of A. B. Edwards which occurred early Tuesday morning at his home seven miles northeast of Farmington was received with genuine sorrow in this section, where his family has been closely connected with the growth a development of the community for several generations past.
Alva Belle Edwards was born January 11, 1863, the son of the late Edward G. and Angelette Edwards. His grandfather was Rev. Edward Edwards, a pioneer Methodist preacher who came from Robertson county, Tennessee about a century ago and settled near Salem Church in Ste. Genevieve County. Alva Edwards was born and reared, and had spent his entire life on the farm settled by his father, only a few miles from the homestead of his paternal grandfather.
The deceased was married Oct. 12, 1898 to Miss Louise Meyer of Farmington, who survives him. He also leaves three daughters, Nan (Mrs. A[mos]. O.) Yeates of Washington, D.C.; Georgia (Mrs. J. R.) McCormick of St. Louis; and Elizabeth (Mrs. Harry) Kay of Farmington. One sister, Mrs. Georgia Anna Swearingen of Caruthersville, Mo., also survives.
Mr. Edwards was educated in the rural school of his community and Carleton College at Farmington. After completing his education he taught school for a short while and then engaged in farming, the pursuit of which afforded him contentment and a reasonable measure of success. He was a man of exemplary habits, possessed a kind and affable spirit and was honored and esteemed by all who knew him.
Funeral services were held Thursday afternoon at the Murphy-Long Memorial Church in Farmington, conducted by the Rev. A. C. Johnson, in the presence of a large concourse of sorrowing friends of the family.
Burial was at Parkview cemetery.
