Mrs. Hannah C. Grover
Mrs. Hannah C. Grover, nee Carmody, was born in Waukesha, Wisconsin, Feb. 19, 1850 and died at her home in Republic, Kansas, April 19, 1916 at the age of 66 years and 2 months. In 1855 she came with her parents to Watertown, Wisconsin and in 1858 they moved to Kewanee, Kewanee county, Wisconsin.
In 1864 she was united in marriage to S.B. Grover of Casco, Kewanee county, Wisconsin. In 1867 they left Wisconsin and came to Blancoe, Iowa where they remained for only two years, and then moved to Republic, Kansas, where she resided ever since.
Five years ago last January her husband was called away by the messenger of death.
While residing in Iowa she with her husband united with the Congregational church, but soon after coming to Kansas they united with the church of the United Brethren. Mrs. Grover has held several official relations to the church and at the time of her death was one of the class stewards, and secretary of the quarterly conference. Deeply interested in the growth of the church, among the last things that she did for the church was to sign a subscription to rebuild the church.
For some years she has been a very patient sufferer with a disease that finally terminated in her death, never complaining but patiently enduring the applications that fell to her lot.
Mrs. Grover leaves to mourn her departure six children, two sons and four daughters; Miss Hattie Grover of Republic, Kansas; S.J. Grover of Bostwick, Nebr., Mrs. Mamie Householder, Union Valley, Mrs. Pearl Blickenstaff of Oberlin, Kansas, Willard Grover, Beatrice, Nebr. and Mrs. Elsie Bowen of Union Valley, twenty-one grandchildren and four great-grandchildren, two brothers and one sister together with a large number of neighbors and friends. Four children together with her husband having preceded her in death.
