Edwin H. Angstrom, of Davenport, died Tuesday, October 6, 1998, at home. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, October 9, at Runge Mortuary & Crematory. Visitation will be from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. today at the mortuary. Burial will be in Blue Grass Cemetery. Memorials may be made to a favorite charity.
Mr. Angstrom was born October 20, 1909, in Davenport, the son of Charles and Augusta (Proksch) Angstrom. On October 18, 1958, he was united in marriage to Verna Schiesser in Davenport. She preceded him in death in February 1998.
Mr. Angstrom had served as mayor of Stockton, Iowa, from 1962-64. He had been employed at Superior Manufacturing, Stockton, Iowa, and later worked as a shop foreman at Sears Manufacturing Co., Davenport, retiring in 1973. He was a member of Northwest Turner Association, German-American Pioneer Society and Plus 60 Club. He enjoyed camping, fishing and dancing.
Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Judy A. and Ron Beck, Clinton Township, Michigan; a son and daughter-in-law, Edwin C. and Carol Angstrom, Davenport; eight grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Harold Angstrom, in 1986.
