CAPTAIN AND QUARTER MASTER ( QM, ) MISSISSIPPI, JUNE 17, 1861.
WOUNDED IN ACTION, ( WIA ) MILL SPRINGS.
IN EARLY 1863 A PAYMASTER IN THE DEPARTMENT OF MISSISSIPPI AND EAST LOUISIANA.
LATER THAT YEAR HE WROTE PRESDENT DAVIS OFFERING TO ORGANIZED UNATTACHED COMPANIES INTO NEW REGIMENT.
COLONEL 12th MISSISSIPPI ( AKA 16th CONFEDERATE ) CAVALRY, DECEMBER 29, 1863.
SHOT IN THE SHOULDER AND SIDE DURING THE JUNE 24, 1864, ATTACK ON LAFAYETTE, GEORGIA.
OFTEN COMMANDED A BRIGADE.
RECOMENDED FOR PROMOTION TO BRIGADIER.
PAROLED MAY 14, 1865, GAINSVILLE.
LAWYER IN MENPHIS, TENESSEE.
POSTWAR. DIED JUNE 28, 1869, JACKSON, MISSISSIPPI.
AT THE STATE ASYLUM, OF HIS WAR WOUNDS AND THE RESULTING INSANITY.
BURIED: JACKSON. ONE WAR TIME INSPECTOR FOUND ARMISTEAD " AN INTELLIGENT GENTLEMAN WHOSE GALLANTRY IS ATTESTED. "
