He was born April 1, 1959 in Fort Atkinson the son of Eugene and Dixie (Wellman) May. He graduated from Cambridge High School in 1977. He was employed by Thomas Industries, Chris Construction, and later was a press operator for Wisconsin Packaging. Bret married Cindy Dahnert on January 19, 1996. He loved following the Green Bay Packers and Badgers, and enjoyed fishing and hunting. Bret was a member of the East Koshkonong Lutheran Church.
He is survived by his wife Cindy, and son: Allen of Fort Akinson.

Funeral Services will be held at 6:00 pm on Thursday, February 9, 2012 at the Nitardy Funeral Home in Fort Atkinson. Friends may call from 4:00 pm until the time of service on Thursday.
