WICKLIFFE, Ky. — Thomas Albert Juett Jr., 88, of Wickliffe died at 2:15 p.m. Wednesday, May 11, 2010, at Western Baptist Hospital in Paducah.
Tom Juett was born November 17, 1921, in the Slater community (Wickliffe, Ky.), the son of T.A. Juett and Cue (Johnson) Juett.
Tom graduated from Wickliffe High School in 1939. He attended Murray State University and served two and a half years in the U.S. Air Force during World War II. He graduated from the University of Kentucky in 1947. Tom was employed by Union Bank & Trust Co. in Lexington, Ky., from 1947 to 1952. Moving back to Wickliffe in 1952, he was then employed by Citizens State Bank in Wickliffe, where he served as President for many years. He had the honor of serving as President of the Kentucky Bankers Association in 1978. Mr. Juett was Mayor of Wickliffe from 1973 to 1981. He was also a long time director for Ballard Telephone Co-op. Mr. Juett was a member of Wickliffe Christian Church. He was treasurer and founding board member of Fort Jefferson Memorial Cross in Wickliffe.He was one of the founders of the West Kentucky Mens Fellowship of the Christian Church Deciples of Christ.
Tom Juett is survived by his wife of 63 years, Ida (Wallace) Juett of Wickliffe; daughter and son-in-law, Jennifer and Steve Holder of La Center; two grandsons, Cody Holder and Travis Holder, both of La Center; and one sister, Dorothy Jean Sullivan and husband Ralph of Leesburg, Fla.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Rosemary Lynn; and brothers, James G. Juett and William D. "Bill" Juett.
Funeral services for Thomas Albert Juett will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, May 14, 2010, at Milner & Orr Funeral Home of Wickliffe with the Revs. Richard Pigg, Claudia Polsgrove and John Polsgrove officiating. Burial will follow at Wickliffe City Cemetery.
Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. today, May 13, 2010, at the funeral home.
