He served as PFC in WWI, Co.D 407th Telegraph Bn in the signal corps. He was a song writer and wrote the songs "Beautiful Oregon I Love You" and "The Old Covered Wagons Came Rolling Along and many others written about Oregon. His TV film "Beautiful Oregon" was the first commercial UHF telecast in the world. Another TV film "The Old Covered Wagons Came Rolling Along" was used by KGW-TV and TPTV to salute Oregon's 100 year centennial in 1959. He was the president of Atterbury Music Enterprises established by him to produce and distribute motion picture films.
