BODY OF GEORGE ALLEE BROUGHT HERE FOR BURIAL.


Was in Mercantile Business Here for Many Years.


The body of Mr. George A Allee, whose death occurred at Oskaloosa, Iowa on Thursday, July 30, was brought overland to this city and funeral services held on Saturday afternoon at the Driscoll Funeral Home. Rev. Vinton Lee of the Congregational Church was in charge of the service and the body was laid to rest in the family lot in Oak Hill Cemetery. Those accompanying the body to this city were his daughters and their husbands and son and wife, namely, Mr. and Mrs. H.C. Peters of Manhattan, KS; Mr. and Mrs. J.A. Stoltz of Oskaloosa, Iowa and Mr. and Mrs. George S. Allee of Kansas City, there were a number of friends of the family accompanying from Oskaloosa..


Mr. Allee was a pioneer merchant here, having been in the grocery business prior to 1910 at which time he and his wife moved from this city to Oskaloosa, Iowa, where they had their home until the death of the latter which occured two years ago and the body was brought to this city for burial. During their residence here, Mr. and Mrs. Allee made many warm friendships and they always regarded Belle Plaine as home.


George A Allee was born in Jennings County, Indiana on August 30, 1848, lacked just one month of being 83 years of age at the time of his death on July 30, 1931. He was reared at the place of his birth and lived there until 1868 when he came to this city. On August 9, 1870 he was united in marriage to Miss Jane Mitchell Burns and four children were born to them who now survive. They are: J.W. Allee of Elsinore, CA; George S. of Kansas City, MO; Mrs. Bell H Peters of Manhattan, KS; and Mrs. Sadie Stoltz of Oskaloosa, Iowa. Four grandchildren are also surviving him with other relatives and numerous friends. .
