Mrs. Dorothy Abel 89, former longtime resident of Jackson passed away Monday, March 14, 2011 at the Brandon Court Nursing Home. Visitation is 5pm-7pm today and after 1pm Thursday at Lakewood Funeral Home, chapel services are 2pm Thursday with interment to follow in Lakewood Memorial Park.

Mrs. Abel was born in Scott County but grew up in Raymond. Her parents were the late Irvin and Rosala Laseter. She was a homemaker and a longtime member of Alta Woods Baptist Church.

Mrs. Abel was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend to many. She will be greatly missed by all who loved her.

She is survived by her children, one son, Rondo Abel and wife Cindy of Brandon, two daughters, Nancy Edwards of Jackson, and Rhonda Abel of Charlotte, NC, two grandchildren Conner and Shelby Marx. She was preceded in death by her loving husband of over 40 years Rondo Abel and her son in law Tommy Edwards.

Donations can be made to Alta Woods Baptist Church, Jackson, MS.

I've thought of Dot often. Last saw her at Mama's funeral. The Abels were almost like family. We go way back. My kindest regards to the family. Peggy Ann (McNair) Kilpatrick. Dayona and Rudy's daughter.
