Sarah was born in Wales to David and Esther Thomas. She was married in Wales. She immigrated to the United States to live near her sister Elizabeth Thomas' family. Sarah settled in the Pittsburgh area where Elizabeth and her husband Owen Thomas had lived before they passed away in the early 1880's. She took care of their seven children. She immigrated to the Pittsburgh area in 1898 to live out her life. She lived with her nephew Evan Thomas at 1000 Locust Street in Pitsburgh.
She is buried at Union Dale Cemetery, Allegheny County, PA, along with Elizabeth and Owen.
