Delbert Kirby, 87, of Parkersburg, died Saturday, Mar. 7, 1998, at his residence.

He was born in Calhoun County, a son of the late Rufus and Mary Adams Kerby. He was a carpenter and formerly owned and operated Kirby's General Store, Red Hill, for 20 years. He was a member of Mt. Olivet Lodge #169 and was a Baptist.

Surviving are his wife Hazel Kirby, three daughters, Rosalie Nelson and Linda Kirby, both of Parkersburg, and Karen Sue Henderson of Myrtle Beach, S.C.; one son, D. Mark Kirby of Parkersburg; one sister, Eula Nelson of Vienna; four brothers, Victor Kirby of Spencer, Cleo Kirby of Parkersburg, and Forest Kerby and Wilbert Kerby, both of Calhoun County; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by one brother, Boyd Kerby, and one great-grandson, Auston Hart. Services were held at Union Valley Baptist Church, Old St. Marys Pike, with Rev. Donald Witman and Rev. Phillip Dent officiating. Burial was in Evergreen Cemetery North. Memorials may be made to Union Valley Baptist Church Building Fund, Rt. 1, Box 211, Parkersburg, WV 26101
