RAT BITE IS FATAL TO MRS. W. H. COHEE

Blood poisoning results from wound on hand
_____
Slight abrasion received a month ago readily healed - took ill last week
_____
Blood poisoning resulting from the bite of a rat, was the cause of the death of Mrs. William H. Cohee, who died at her home in the extreme east section of the city, at six o'clock this morning.

About a month ago while taking a quantity of potatoes from a barrel in the cellar of their home, Mrs. Cohee felt a sharp pain on the back of her hand. Withdrawing her arm from the barrel she noticed the marks left by the teeth of the rodent, which jumped from the barrel and scampered off. Although the wound pained her somewhat at the time, she washed it, applied a lotion and bound it up. In a day or two it had healed.

One week ago she was taken ill, with what the attending physician diagnosed as blood poisoning. She grew rapidly worse and during the past few days suffered terribly until relieved by death this morning. The bite from the rat is held responsible for the woman's demise.

Mrs. Cohee was 43 years old, having been born in Carroll county, on August 22, 1868. Her maiden name was Catherine Sheridan. She was married to William H. Cohee on November 19, 1885, and removed to this city in 1890. Surviving besides her husband are three children, Ruth, Elmer and Gerald Cohee and three brothers, Elmer E. Sheridan, Squire S. Sheridan and Harry C. Sheridan, all of this city. Deceased was a member of the United Brethren church in this city.

The funeral will be held from the U. B. church in this city, Saturday morning at 10 o'clock, conducted by Rev. A. M. Cummins, following which the funeral corttge (sp) will proceed overland to Moran, where interment will take place at the Moran cemetery.
