JOSEPH ALVIN ABELL, 62, of 1013 Oakwood Ave., died Thursday at SS. Mary & Elizabeth Hospital. He was a native of Marion County, an Army veteran of World War II and a pipefitter for Ashland Oil Co. Survivors include his wife, the former Teresa Blandford; a daughter, Mrs. Diane Thorpe; a son, Joseph g. Abell; five sisters, Mrs. Teresa Mattingly of Lebanon, Mrs. Thelma Haggard of Liberty, Mrs. Helen Osbourne of Springfield, Mrs. Clara Hutchins and Mrs. Louise thomas, both of Loretto; three brothers, Thomas L. Abell of Lebanon, James B. and Edward J. Abell; and three grandchildren. The funeral will be at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday at SS. Simon & Jude Catholic Church, 4335 Hazelwood Ave., with burial in Evergreen Cemetery. Visitation at Nunnelley Funeral Home, 4327 Taylor Blvd., will be after 3 p.m. Sunday.

JOSEPH ALVIN ABELL, 62, died July 2 at SS. Mary & Elizabeth Hospital. Mr. Abell was a pipe fitter for Ashland Oil and a WW II veteran. Survivors include: his wife, Teresa R. Blandford Abell; one son, Joseph Abell; one daughter, Mrs. Diane Thorp; five sisers, Louise Thomas of Loretto, Teresa Mattingly of Lebanon, Thelma Haggard of Liberty, Clara Hutchins of Loretto and Helen Osbourne of Springfield; three brothers, James and Edward J. Abell of Louisville, Thomas Leo Abell of Lebanon and three grandchildren. Funeral services were conducted at 10 a.m. June 30 at the Nunnelly Funeral Home in Louisville with burial in Evergreen Cemetery.
