FALL INJURIES FATAL TO TEACHER
Miss Norma Drewel, 46, a teacher in the Gasconade R-1 School at Berger, died Tuesday at Deaconess Hospital in St. Louis, where she was a patient eight days, Miss Drewel fell at her home in Berger on April 5, and was immediately thereafter hospitalized due to a brain injury.
Miss Drewel lies in state at the Blumer Funeral Home at Berger until noon today (Friday). Funeral services will be held in St. John United Church of Christ at 2 p.m. with interment in St. John E & R Cemetery. Rev. Frederick Felger will conduct the services.
Born at Boonville, MO, January 19, 1918, Miss Drewel was a daughter of the late Edward and Sophia Wattenberg Drewel. The family later moved to Berger. Miss Drewel, who graduated from Hermann High School in 1935, taught in the Little Berger School from 1935 to 1944, and was awarded a Bachelor of Education degree at Central Missouri State College at Warrensburg in 1946. She had been a teacher in the Berger School, now known as the Gasconade R-1 School at Berger, for the past 20 years. She was a member of the St. John United Church of Christ at Berger and was active in many of the church activities.
Her only survivor is a sister, Miss Irene Drewel of Berger. One sister Irma, predeceased her.
