Although no headstone has been found yet, family history places John Peter Clover in the Seceder Cemetery, Mechanisville, Clarion County, PA.

John Peter Clover was a native of Prussia who decided to emigrate to America. He was a blacksmith and there being a law in Prussia that blacksmiths were not allowed to leave the country, he in some way evaded the officials and with his wife, Catherine Sharpe, a native of Holland, came to America settling at a place now known as Clover Hill in Hunterdon County, New Jersey. He had a family of eleven children. At the time of settling at Clover Hill, the Indians were numerous and hostile, and they had to have their rifles with them while working the fields. Just what time the family crossed the Delaware into PA is not known, but they traveled through Cumberland County to Mifflin County and finally to Clarion County, PA in 1814 where they resided until the death of John Peter Clover in 1831.
