Birth: Nov. 21, 1909
Washita County
Oklahoma, USA
Death: Sep. 22, 1946
Maricopa County
Arizona, USA

Dewitt was born in the small town of Sentinel, Oklahoma where his father had settled in the early 1900s after moving west from Ohio. He grew up from the age of ten living with only his father and sisters after his parents were divorced. He took on responsibilities early, and assisted his dad on the farm and with his other business ventures.
In the late 30s, they moved to Arizona, partly as his father had heard of good farm land for raising cotton, and partly as Dewitt had developed poor health and the Arizona climate was said to help.
He continued working hard on the ranch there in Eloy, Arizona, and the dust is not likely to have helped with his respiratory disease which was eventually diagnosed as TB. He spent much time in Sanitariums over the years.
Sadly, he passed away at only 37 after spending time at the Tempe Tuberculosis Sanitarium.
He lived 36 years, 10 months and 1 day.
