H.C. Arendt, 91, of Stephenville passed away on Friday, January 9, 2009 at the Glen Rose Medical Cemter. Funeral services were held Monday, January 12 at the First United Methodist Church in Hico with burial at Albany Cemetery in Albany.
Mr. Arendt was born on April 1, 1917 at the Black Ranch in Shackelford County to Charles and Gertrude Arendt. He served in the Army Air Force 39th Fighter Squadron in the South Pacific during World War II.
He was married to June Hale on October 11, 1945 in Albany. They resided in Stephenville for 67 years when H. C. retired from the U. S. Post Office. He was a member of the Hico First United Methodist Church and was a mason for over 60 years.
Survivors include his wife of 63 years. June Arendt of Stephenville; on daughter Janie Holderman, two sons Chas Arendt and Bud Arendt.

H.C. Arendt was the grandson of William Walter Johnson and Margaret Jane POLK Johnson. Margaret Jane Polk family seemed related to almost everyone who was anyone in deep east Texas politics, as well as to national figures like President James K. Polk.
H.C is a "second cousin, 4th generation removed," from President James K. Polk ancestry line.
