James Alvey "Jim" Batten, 67, of Harrisburg died Sunday, Sept. 18, 2005.
Born in Poinsett County, he was a retired carpenter and had worked several years for General Motors in Flint, Michigan.
Survivors include three sons, Scott Batten of Jonesboro, Jessy Batten of Chesapeake, Va., and Jamy Batten of Searcy; three daughters, Vicky Schmitz of Oak Grove, La., Donna Bonham of Jonesboro and Gaye Rains of Bowdon, Ga; 14 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
He was preceeded in death by two sons, Ryan Batten and Christopher Batten; his parents, Alvey W. Batten and Aline Blasinggame Batten; and one sister.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Weston Funeral Service in Harrisburg, with Rev, Gary Barker officiating. Burial will be in Harrisburg Memorial Park Cemetery.
Jim was my cousin. I did him an injustice that was never forgiven. Jim was a good man, he loved his family dearly and worked hard to provide for them. The friendship we once had could never be replaced. The loss was all mine.
