*Grew up in South Connellsville.

* Frequently visited Confluence / Draketown PA as that is the area where both of his Parents were from.

* Nicknamed "Pete"

* Served in the US Army as a Medic during WWII

*Married "Doris Eileen Wing" - Delford was stationed in England for a period of time during WWII. He was set up on a blind date with Doris (nicknamed "Doll"). They dated for 3 months, and got married in England. Delford finished serving his time in the Army, while Doris stayed in England. After he was honorably discharged, and sent home, Doris arrived in the United States. They resided in South Connellsville PA their entire lives.

*Delford worked at Anchor Hocking Glass Factory.

*Delford and Doris had 2 children, Vierma "Bobbi" Shipley, and Delford William Shipley.

*He was fairly short, and dark skinned, especially in the Summer. He always wore a Baseball cap.

*Delford loved to FISH. He regularly fished the River in South Connellsville.

*He loved to GARDEN. He had a very large garden in his back yard, and worked in it all the time. All of his Brothers had gardens. In the Summer, we always had sliced tomatoes, or cucumbers on the table.

*He liked to take afternoon NAPS.

*He loved BASEBALL. When he was younger, he played Baseball, and was supposed to have been quite good.

*I remember him READING "WESTERNS" when he was older. He had a favorite recliner in the living room that he would sit and eat shelled peanuts, and read his "Westerns" in.

*He loved to COOK and BAKE. When I would visit, he would make me homemade French Fries, and Cheeseburgers. Other dishes I remember : Chili, Chicken and Dumplings, and Baked Beans. He would also make his Mothers recipe for Orange Cookies, and Filled Cookies. They were the best ! In the Fall, he always made Pumpkin Pie.

*His favorite foods were Coffee, Peanut Brittle, and Nuts of any kind.

*He would do anything for his Grandchildren Chrissy, Lisa, and Brian, and absolutely adored his Great Grand Daughter April. He would regularly visit her in Mt Pleasant, and ask to walk her in her stroller so he could show her off at the park.

*Delford died 8-22-1996 in Pittsburgh at St Francis Hospital of Leukemia. He is buried at Greenridge Memorial Park, Connellsville PA.
