Gene Allen Campbell, 84, of Beaumont, Texas, died Monday, June 27, 2011, at Harbor Hospice. Born in Beaumont, Texas, on November 22, 1926, Gene was the son of Elam Allen Campbell and Verda Odessa (Williams) Campbell. He is a United States Navy Veteran, having served in the Pacific Theater during World War II.
After returning from the Pacific, he married his childhood sweetheart, Lucretia Cammack. They had four sons: Warren, Ted, Mark, and Glen. He resided his whole life in the Beaumont area, and worked for Halliburton Oil Field Service Company and then for Goodyear Beaumont Chemical Plant, where he served as an instrument electrician.
Gene is survived by his wife, Lucretia Cammack Campbell of Beaumont; son, Warren Campbell and his wife, Pat Esslinger of Houston; son, Ted Campbell and his wife, Dale of Dallas; daughter-in-law, Marion Campbell of Montgomery; and son, Glen Campbell and his wife, Anita of San Antonio; ten grandchildren, Cheryl Grosso, Allan Campbell, Jason Plumley, Allison Barrett, Wesley Campbell, Alexandra Campbell, Kelly Esslinger, Elizabeth Campbell, Lydia Campbell and Elam Campbell; five great grandchildren, Madelyn Campbell, David Grosso, Jackson Barrett, Bradley Lyons, and Lucas Plumley. He is predeceased by his son Mark, who died in March of this year.
His funeral service will be 11:00 a.m. Friday, July 1, 2011, at Broussard's, 2000 McFaddin Avenue, with burial to follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park. A gathering of his family and friends will be from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Thursday, June 30, 2011, at Broussard's.
