William Charles "Bill" Cummings, a resident of Berryville, Ark., was born June 16, 1934 in Berryville, Ark. to Clyde Chester and Eartle Lee (Stacy) Cummings II. He departed this life to meet his heavenly Father Tuesday, September 21, 2010 in Berryville, AR at the age of 76 years.
On October 3, 1953 he was united in marriage with his High School Sweetheart, Elaine Butler who survives him of the home. They shared 56 wonderful years together. He is also survived by two sons, Trent and wife Marilynn Cummings of Berryville, Steve and wife Gayle Cummings of Berryville; twin brother, Burton and wife Morine Cummings of Berryville, AR; several grandchildren, nieces and nephews and a host of family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, grandmother Dillie Carter, and brother Clyde Chester Cummings III.

Bill graduated from Berryville High School in 1952 as class president and captain of the football team. He served in the United States Navy for four years following high school (Korean War Vet). At the completion of his Navy service, he went on to the University of Arkansas -- Fayetteville where he received his degree in electrical engineering in 1961. After receiving his degree, he worked for NASA in Houston, Texas. In 1963, Bill joined the United States Air Force as a Second Lieutenant -- retiring as a Major in 1979. Bill served in various places throughout the world during his military years. He and Elaine moved back to Berryville in 1982 where he became the Administrator for the Carroll County Health Department for a number of years. Bill loved to play music and sing (with his brothers) and other groups. He enjoyed golf and his friends at the Carroll County Country Club where he helped to organize many tournaments. Bill was also a die-hard Hog fan. Bill was a serving member of the Berryville United Methodist Church. This honorable man of high integrity will be greatly missed!

Memorial services will held at 2 p.m. Friday, October 1, 2010 at the Berryville United Methodist Church with Pastors Steve and Rebecca Wiseman officiating.
