Rosa Viola Baggs of Avenal was born in Winthrop, AR. on March 11, 1922 to William Harrison Dean and Flora Lillie Tipton. She married her beloved husband, Euel Winford Baggs on Nov. 17, 1942. He preceded her in death on Sept. 11, 1974.
Rosa was a nurse for the Avenal District Hospital for 31 years, specializing in surgery and retiring Oct. 1, 1982. She lived a long and colorful live leaving this world June 19, 2004 in Hanford. She was a member of the Avenal First Baptist Church and the Avenal Women's Club. She was also a very good storyteller.
Rosa is survived by two daughters, Euela Taber and her husband Larry of Cameron Park, Calif: and Rilda Hedgecock and her husband David of Avenal; a niece, Ardessa Williams;, grandchildren, Michele and David Giacomini, Seana and Jarrod Taber Thompson. David and Melissa Hedgecock, Daniel and Amanda Hedgecock; great-grandchildren, Eric and Ryan Giacomini, Chance Taber-Thompson, Katelyn and Caleb Hedgecock.
Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Phipps-Dale Funeral Chapel in Lemoore. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at the Avenal First Baptist Church. Burial will follow in Pleasant Valley Cemetery in Coalinga.
