HOLTON Charles W. Anderson, 85, Holton, died Wednesday, April 27, 2005, at a Baldwin City care facility. He was born Aug. 4, 1919, in Muscotah, the son of Charles and Mamie Cox Anderson. He attended Larkinburg schools. He had moved to Holton from Valley Falls in 1940. Mr. Anderson worked for the Holton Creamery from 1940 to 1944. He was a truck driver for Freed & Perrigo for 15 years, and worked for Petree Propane for more than 30 years. He was a member of Bethany Baptist Church in Holton. He also belonged to the Plumbers & Pipefitters Union Local No. 165. He married Lucille Carpenter on Oct. 1, 1940, in Holton. She survives. Other survivors include two sons, Larry Dean Anderson, Topeka, and Gary Gene Anderson, Elmhurst, Ill.; three daughters, Frances Shubert, Phoenix, Norma Jean Bauerle, Vassar, and Charlene Sherwood, Gardner; a sister, Alice Moore, Nortonville; 12 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren. A funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, April 30, at Mercer Funeral Home in Holton. Interment will be in Holton Cemetery. Visitation will be from 7 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be given to the Center for Basic Cancer Research in Manhattan or The Heart of America Hospice in Topeka and sent in care of Mercer Funeral Home, Box 270, Holton, Kan. 66436.
