Deceased Name: Paul Bailey, 74

FALLBROOK - Paul E. Bailey, 74, died Wednesday, Feb. 21, 2007.

Born May 30, 1932, in Carlsbad, N.M., he lived in Fallbrook for 54 years. He was an operations manager for the Marine Corps Exchange System on Camp Pendleton for 10 years. He retired from the U.S. Marine Corps in 1971 as a first lieutenant (Mustang) and served in the Vietnam War.

He was a member of St. Peter's Catholic Community in Fallbrook, and a life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1924 in Fallbrook. He was a past volunteer firefighter in Fallbrook. He enjoyed coin collecting, model rail roading, traveling and astronomy.
Mr. Bailey was preceded in death by his daughter, Maureen Bailey; and son Shawn Bailey.

He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Veronica "Boots" Bailey; daughters and sons-in-law Veronica Bailey, Mary "Colleen" Bailey, Jeannine and JR Charles, and Melissa "Missy" and Chris Crandall, all of California; sons and daughter-in-law Chris Bailey of Maine, and Paul "Bud" and Donna Bailey of Arkansas; sisters and brothers-in-law Norma Bjork, Patricia and Skip Richards, Nadine "Ruby" and Marvin Wright and Betty and Clyde Zimbleman, all of California; brother Kenneth Bailey of California; 13 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

A memorial Mass will be celebrated at 4 p.m. Tuesday, March 6, at St. Peter's Catholic Church in Fallbrook. Inurnment with military honors will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, March 7, at Fort Rosecrans National Cemetery in San Diego.

The family suggests donations to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, P.O. Box 1000, Dept. 300, Memphis, TN 38148-0552.
Berry-Bell & Hall Mortuary is handling arrangements.
