Mrs. Mary “Ruth” Boyd Akers, age 95, of Villa Rica, Georgia passed away Thursday, May 28, 2020 at her residence, in the same home she was born. She was born on September 22, 1924, the daughter of late Otis Calloway Boyd and Martha Jewell Daniell Boyd.
Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Charlie Eule Akers, to whom she married on September 13, 1942. She was also preceded in death by two infant children, Mary Lynette Akers and Gary Eule Akers; a grandson, Kyle Akers and a sister, Geneva Boyd Yarbrough.
Ruth was a faithful member of New Hope Baptist Church on Wayside Road in Carrollton, GA. She retired from Villa Rica High School as a lunchroom worker. She was best known for her cooking and friendliness. She received great joy in feeding her family and friends.
Ruth is survived by two sons, Danny and Jennifer Akers of Villa Rica and Dean and Kathy Akers of Carrollton. In addition, she is survived by three grandchildren, Kevin Akers of Villa Rica, Amy and James McColley of Temple and Allen and Shelly Akers of Lakenheath, England; three great grandchildren, Cheyenne and Cody Bradford, Meagan Akers and Charlie Akers; one great great grandchild, Oakley Bradford and a nephew Ted and Deborah Yarbrough.
A graveside service and interment will be held in New Hope Baptist Church Cemetery, Sunday, May 31, 2020 at 4 p.m. with Elder Randy Redden and Elder Colt Deems officiating.
Pallbearers will be Danny Akers, Dean Akers, Ted Yarbrough, James McColley and Kevin Akers.
