Steven Gerald Allan
1948 ~ 2009
Steve passed away peacefully on Tuesday, June 2, 2009 from a short, but optimistic and courageous battle with cancer.
Steve was born August 25, 1948 to Gerald Lavon and Dorothy Hirst Allan.
Steve resided in Provo and graduated from Provo High. He worked for Pacific States Pipe right up to February 2009, when he was diagnosed with his illness and forced to retire after 40 years of service as a welder. As a member of the Steelworkers Union #1654, he held the seat of Treasurer and other positions for many years.
Steve married Donna Coates in 1968 and had 4 beautiful children. Shortly after their divorce he reunited with a childhood friend, which became the love of his life, best friend and wife. Diane Jacobsen was so proud to be that person to such a wonderful man. Along with this marriage came daughter, Shelley, whom he became a dad and hero to.
Steve and Diane have been married 13 years and shared many cruises, Lake Powell trips, campouts, and the latest and greatest were the road trips on the new Harley Soft-tail motorcycle they bought four years ago. This warrior, big ox, best friend, sweetheart, dad and husband gained friends daily because of who he was and how he was.
The world has lost a very special man and heaven has received an extraordinary angel. We all await the time to be hugged and kissed by him again.
He is survived by his everlasting wife, Diane; their daughter Shelley Lund of Spanish Fork; daughters Kim (Jeff) Hawkins of Provo, Kerri (Rick) Angelo of Provo; son Wade (Magen) Allen of Provo; 6 grandchildren; sister Sally (Lewis) Lindsay.
He was preceded in death by his son, Travis; his parents; 2 brothers and 1 sister.
Ceremony and celebration will be held Sunday, June 7, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. at the BPOE Elks Lodge #849, 1000 South University Ave., Provo.
Friends may call from 9-10:45 a.m. prior to the services.
Mom and Dad have requested in lieu of flowers, please donate to a cancer fund of your choosing.
Special thanks to the 7th floor nurses and staff and the Utah Valley Regional Medical Center.
