MARY C. AHLERS, 87, of New Bremen died Friday, July 28, 2017 at 3:20 A.M. at the Kobacker House of Columbus, Ohio. She was born May 19, 1930 in Toledo, Ohio, the daughter of the late Pete E. and Gladys E. "Pinky" (Lewis) Weasel. On November 8, 1952, she married A.C. "Hap" Ahlers at the Hope Lutheran Church in Toledo, Ohio, and he died on November 30, 1992.

Survivors include her children: Christine (William) Wilson of Port St. Lucy, FL, Barbara (John) Renner of Huron, Ohio, and Gregory (Darla) Ahlers of Ansonia, Ohio; her grandchildren: Will Wilson, Wade (Nadine) Wilson, Jason (Erica) Renner, Amy (Robert) Parker, Erin (Jason) Brockman, Emily (Alexis) Rios, Tiffinie (Matthew) Miller, Tabatha (Caleb) Caffee, Tanner Hammaker, Taylor Hammaker; ten great-grandchildren: Hailey and Evan Brockman, Aaron and Allison Renner, Fenix Miller, Rilynn, Maci, Dierks Caffee, Olivia and Ian Parker; special friends: Lois Moeller, Kohneita Lear, and Louise Barga; life-long friends: Caroljean Bomer, Pauline Morford, Shirley Feehan, Lucy Louis, and Martha Watson.

Mary was a faithful member of the St. Paul United Church of Christ in New Bremen where she was a member of the Busy 12, the Satellite, and was a Deacon. She was a member of the OCCL-Twigbenders, the original Bremenfest committee, and the Bremenfest Park formation committee. Mary was all about her family. She enjoyed attending her grandchildren's sporting events, and was a room mother and tutor at New Bremen Schools. Mary and Hap were part of several card clubs, and enjoyed traveling. Even after Hap passed away she still took each grandchild on a special vacation, and traveled with special friends. Mary was a 1948 graduate of Toledo Scott High School, a homemaker, and was happy to be a mom and a wife.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, July 31, 2017 at 11:00 AM at the St. Paul United Church of Christ in New Bremen, with the Rev. Becky Erb Strang officiating. Interment will follow in the Willow Grove Cemetery of New Bremen.

Calling hours will be held on Sunday, July 30, 2017 from 2:00 until 6:00 P.M. at the Gilberg-Hartwig Funeral Home of New Bremen, and one hour prior to the services on Monday at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the St. Paul U.C.C. Memorial Fund, or to the Stefanie Spielman Fund for Breast Cancer Research.
