HIGH POINT – Mr. Walter Thomas Allison, resident of High Point, passed away September 28th, 2012 at High Point Regional Hospital.

Mr. Allison was born August 26th, 1917 in Concord, NC, a son to the late John and Elizabeth Alexander Allison. Walter was employed by the A.G. Boone Company for 40 years retiring in 1979. While working, he served two terms as chairman of The Maintenance Council of The North Carolina Trucking Association. He also spent time in The Dakotas repairing homes on the Indian Reservations. He was a member of First Wesleyan Church in High Point where he volunteered on many committees and boards. He was active in the outreach ministry and also the transportation department at the church. Until the age of 94, he still signed the church payroll checks. He was preceded in death by his wife of 65 years, Kathryn Grace Allison and his oldest son, John Allison.

Surviving is a son, David Allison and wife Judy of Matthews; four grandchildren, Lisa Prewitt and husband Scott of Longwood, FL, Chris Allison of Longwood, FL, Keith Allison and wife Angie of Charlotte and Jeremy Allison and wife Christy of Charlotte; seven great-grandchildren; one brother, Robert Allison of Charlotte and a daughter-in-law, Lynne Lipgens of Melbourne, FL.

Funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday in the chapel of the Cumby Family Funeral Service in High Point with Rev. David Keith officiating. Interment will follow the service at Forrest Lawn West Cemetery in Charlotte, NC at 1:00 p.m. Visitation will be from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Monday at the funeral home and also following the burial at Forrest Lawn Funeral Home in Charlotte. Memorials may be directed to First Wesleyan Church, 1701 Westchester Dr. High Point, NC 27262 or to Hospice of the Piedmont, 1801 Westchester Dr. High Point, NC 27262.
