Birth: Feb. 9, 1903
Prairie County
Arkansas, USA
Death: May 5, 1974
Barry County
Missouri, USA

Carl Oliver Allain was the son of Oliver Allain and Elizabeth Mae Blain. Carl's first marriage was to Constance Catherine Risser. She died in January of 1941. One daughter was born to this marriage.

On 27 Aug 1959, at Dubois, Clearfield County, Pennsylvania, Carl married Myrtle Rebecca Lock. (Myrtle died 7 Aug 1982)

Although Carl was a native of the Ozark area in Arkansas, he grew up in St. Anne, Illinois after his parents moved there when he was a young boy. He lived there until 1963, at which time he and his wife Myrtle, retired and moved back to the Ozark area settling in Golden, Missouri.

Carl made his living as a farmer, but from the mid 1920's until 1940, he and his brother Harry owned and operated the Allain Brothers Garage and Gas Station, located on Route 1 in St. Anne, Illinois. The property was destroyed by fire in December of 1952.

He was an avid collector of guns and vintage record players. He collected guns most of his life. In 1951, Carl had the number one collection of guns in the Kankakee, Illinois area and 1958 he owned over 500 guns. Many were museum pieces. The oldest gun dated back to 1650. In 1959, he had approximately 32 music machines, such as gramophones, phonographs, a concert roller organ and a number of music boxes. The oldest machines dated back to 1898 and were made by Edison and Columbia. He also owned a Victor record player that had the typical "wooden horn". Carl made sure they were all in working order. He also had a prized collection of records.

A funeral service for Carl was conducted on 7 May 1974 by Reverend D. R. Bledsoe, pastor of the Golden Baptist Church at Culver's Chapel in Cassville, Missouri. Another funeral service was held on 9 May 1974 at Houk Funeral Home in St. Anne, Illinois and conducted by Rev. T. Sturtevant.
